What’s Your Money Mindset? (T. Harv Eker)

written by Yann Vernier

Reporting to you live from T. Harv Eker’s “Millionaire Mind Intensive” in London:

In his pre-seminar instructions, Eker kept repeating to come with an open mind.

Now I know why.

You don’t sit there listening and learning.

He essentially spends 3 days – 12 hours each day – making you DO stuff.

Some seemingly silly. Some rather unusual.

If you’ve read the book, you know the principles are simple. But you may well not have put the advice into practise.

The seminar is basically about making you take action and implement these principles there and then.

From specifically identifying your own limiting beliefs about money and success. To clarifying the roots of these beliefs in your unique situation. And practising affirmations and visualization to start replacing them with more productive habits.

Don’t go there if you’re not ready for a bit of tough love!

A few key points from Day 1:

–  You’ll get plenty of money ONLY AFTER you’ve “shown” you can manage what you’ve got. (Not the other way round!)

–  Even if you start with $1, start managing your money by splitting your income into 6 separate accounts, each with a specific purpose (investment, long-term savings, education, necessities, fun, and giving). The key is in forming the habit NOW.

–  A lack of money is never ever a problem… It’s a result – a symptom – of your current mindset. The problem is with the roots of your actions: your beliefs.

Simple.

But useful only if you put them into practise!

More tomorrow…

Yann

PS: If you’re doing, or are planning to do, any public speaking, you would probably benefit from signing up for this when it comes near you…  To study their model. The subtle, and not-so-subtle, influence strategies they use. Their handling of crowd participation (and lack of it). And their awesome platform selling techniques (obviously tested and fine-tuned for profitable results without hypey pitching). It’s a real pleasure to watch just from that angle.

    Yann -

Excellent post about developing the millionaire mindset. The book, The Millionaire Next Door, outlines how everyday, common, ordinary people who have the right money mindset become millionaires.

    Awesome advice:

    Looking forward to reading more!

  2. Yann,

Great advice. Thanks for posting the notes. He is right, implementing what you know is far more powerful than simply knowing what to do.

    Sounds like a great seminar.

  6. Hi Yann,

Great post! The thing that stands out for me is the fact that you take action on the learning at the time of learning as this creates a habit by influencing the mind that this is normal

True that no money is the result of the wrong mindset and by doing the above you create the right pathways in the brain to have the millionaire mindset

Thank you for the post. I agree — our thoughts and beliefs determine all that we will accomplish.

    Fascinating!

I love how you managed to participate fully in the course, but still learned a ton about the techniques that were being used on you – the participant.

That shows me that you’re looking to learn from each and every situation you’re in. And makes you a total superstar.

One of my Life Coach clients has a massive professional crush on Harv. I’ve sent her a link. (Hi June!!!)

    Keep it up dude!

  10. This is great Yann. It is so true about the “doing” part. If Kevin Hogan were not pushing us so hard during this course to take action now, I would never get a darn thing done on it!

I wrote extensive notes after I read Harv Eker’s book “Secret of the Millionnaire Mind”. Now I need to track down the file(s)as I have since then switched my laptop & what have you.

I also listened to his “Millinnaire Mind Intensive” (MMI) Seminar CDs around the same time (about 2 years ago). The exercises done in the live seminar were NOT covered on these CDs.

The book content overlaps a lot with his MMI, which is a marketing tool for him to get you signed up for his high ticket programs like “The Warrior”.

  13. Good Post
The key IS action versus just wanting and hoping it will happen. I hope he addresses how to change old habits into these positive new ones. I have not read the book so not sure where he goes with everything.

Fine, basic, fundamental points….which may be why they are easy to ignore.Seems that quite a bit of our current economic situation can be reduced to simple error of thought, sort of the “cart before the horse” type of thing…….which no amount of bailout money will fix. Scary.
    Thanks

  17. Fascinating, and so counter to how most of us go about doing things.

But I for one am convinced from all the consumer behaviour research I’ve read and conducted, and the neuroscience I’ve studied, that behaviour drives attitudes and not the other way around.
